Monstermind #2 - Collabs & Bundles
Hi!
Welcome to the 2nd issue of my newsletter! Quite a random bunch of news.
Collaborations
Since last post I didn't release any of my own games, but I've been involved with some collaborative projects. It's really awesome to be able to work with these super talented and creative people.
Storm Raiser, the Righteous Sword
In Iko's The Lost Bay Discord (a great community by the way) Adam Good, Philip Jensen and I were sparring a bit about cool named swords on a Friday night. We dove into a Google spreadsheet and in a frenzy we filled this great entry to the #4d20 jam.
No boring 'magic sword' or 'favorite knife', no!
Mind Eater, the Drinking Spear
Cloud Banger, the Resonant Javelin
Storm Raiser, the Righteous Sword
Now those are good names!
Lunar Echos
A downloadable solarpunk fable. A collaborative project from The Sustainable Gaming Forum, another great Discord based community. Based on the A Psalm for the Wild-Built novella by Becky Chambers. To be honest, I didn't get involved until the last few days, but it's an awesome project, now itchfunding for a print run. (Funding runs to end of May).
Artifacts of Horror Jam
Next up is not a game release, but a game jam I've been involved with. Created on the aforementioned The Lost Bay Discord server, we created a number of omens about weird happenings in a now abandoned small town.
The jam asks people to create an artifact based on one or more of these omens for a future horror journaling solo game. The entries so far are awesome. The jam ends June 14th.
Bundles
Hope these weird times find everyone ok! I know I try to keep myself from doomscrolling, but not everyday as successful.
All the bad news can make a person feel powerless. I'm happy to have been able to join some great game bundles raising money for important causes to battle the rising tides of bigots, nazi's & terfs.
Concerning the bad news about the upcoming supreme court decision in the US, we have the following two bundles, both containing Beyond the Glittering Sands:
TTRPGs for Reproductive Rights
All proceeds from this bundle will be donated to Planned Parenthood and NNAF (National Network of Abortion Funds). Ends June 13thBundle for Reproductive Rights
All proceeds from this bundle will be donated to nonprofits that protect the right of people to choose what happens to their own bodies, such as ARC Southeast. Ends June 1st.
An upcoming bundle is in support of the victims and survivors of the shooting in Buffalo. Not yet live, but hopefully soon: Bundle for Buffalo. Proceeds will go to the Buffalo-based Black Love Resists in the Rust, "a member-led, abolitionist organization of Black folk and POC, that grounds their work in these four pillars: Transformative Organizing, Healing Justice, Embodied Leadership and Political Education."
For this bundle I submitted A Visit To San Sibilia.
Progress with Pine Shallows
As some of you know my current big work in progress is Pine Shallows (tagline: small town, big adventures). Pine Shallows is inspired by movies like the Goonies, and series like Gravity Falls and Stranger Things and lots of middle grade fantasy adventure books.
Welcome to Tyler Crumrine (of Possible World Games) as editor for Pine Shallows. When itchfunding is successful, he'll be having the thankless job of whipping my text into a better shape.
To be honest, progress on the game is slower than I hoped it to be. I want the game to be in a complete state when starting itchfunding. Current plan is to start funding somewhere mid/end June. The first version will be available immediately, containing all needed rules and a first adventure. Everyone who already bought it will get access to all improved versions.
I'm very proud to reveal some new interior art, an awesome group portrait of possible characters, drawn by the great bert of bertdrawsstuff.
Miscellaneous
In their latest episode the awesome people of Friends At The Table included an actual play of A Visit To San Sibilia. Not sure how to top that!
Check our Critters & Companions, a system-neutral fantasy bestiary featuring 30 farm animals by Pearse Anderson. This is the cozy vibes I'm looking for right now. Love the art, the text, everything!
See you next time!
Happy gaming, Peter
